The Batanes General Hospital (BGH) aspires to be a people-centered Level 2 hospital by 2027. Core to this vision is a modern health system that provides quality healthcare services.

Moving forward, BGH seeks to equip with sound and timely strategic ways and means that are consistent with the government’s development thrusts thru a Strategic Development Planning Workshop.

On 16-18 November 2022, Wednesday to Friday, a 3-day workshop focused on the synchronization and harmonization of output and outcome indicators was held at the Bunker’s Bistro Conference Hall facilitated by the newly-hired Planning Officer Mr. Jhomar D. Cabansay, MMPA, MMEP. The Five-Year Strategy Development Plan (2023-2027) will serve as a road map and blueprint for action of the hospital.

During the workshop, Mr. Cabansay provided activities that would strengthen and boost the morale of employees. He asked each division/section/unit how they had performed in the past three years and how they would handle the next three or five years.

“We need to plan carefully and objectively, to make a history of change, a “transformational change” in BGH.” He said.

Said activity were able to discussed and deliberate such as the  Organizational Structure & Staffing Standards of a Level 2 hospital, Organizational Outcome/Scorecard, Catch-up Plan of concerned sections, Evaluation of Vision Statement and Quality Policy, and the DOH Strategic and Performance Management System. Attendees of the Strategic Planning were the Medical Department heads, Division heads, Section heads, and selected employees headed by  Dr. Jeffrey Antony T. Canceran, Chief of Hospital III.

With the participants’ learnings from the 3-day workshop, the Batanes General Hospital is eager in reaching its vision, keeping true to its core values and attaining the Universal Health Care System.
